Uhm, since we already have these skills, why make a second copy into a NEW class?

When I hear Druid I think of a R/Mo.

This class has been suggested before.

Yes, this class has been suggested before, but they are mostly about shape-shifter druids. This is more of a class that summons the power of nature, not change appearance. Only thing that my class and the others have in common are the name of the class, which can be changed.

Why, you ask? Because you wouldnt have to go D/Rt to use brutal weapon. You wouldnt have to go D/Mo to use infuse health. Necro's and Mesmers share degen spells, which are basically all the same. Warriors/Sins/Rangers use +dmg attacks, which are the same.

Very, very nice. My only problem is that currently 3/8 classes can summon or charm creatures. If they make a summoner like this, we may be outnumbered by pets on the battlefield. A mutiny would be most terrifying.

but the whole point of a secondary is for those one in a million skills that are worthwhile, like brutal weapon for a war, or necro/mo for infuse health and grenths balance. its just breaking the system IMO. A new class should have NEW worthwhile skills for more variation, no species survived without variation...

Protective Bond is a monk spell right?

I don't like the idea of a summoner, Druids are already in the game as nature spirits, not spirit summoners, play the bonus for bloodstone fen, your talking about another race which is already in the game, furthermore, Druids are comparable to Rangers who use druid armor and summon druidic spirits, reminicently looking just like the "Druids" in this game, cept smaller.

So the name for this class is an exsisting race, that's definetly a barrier, if not requiring an alternate title. Summoning several attackers? Well thats death mastery for Necromancer!, and they already have an alternate too, Ritualist. It isn't a bad idea to have another alternate to Ranger, Necromancer and Ritualist which all have companion types, but there are serious limitations to all the exsisting companion classes.

Ranger can only use one permenant pet with Charm animal, Necromancer requires the corpses of battle to make an army of very monotone and weak hordes, although he can summon several of from the same skill, and Ritualist can summon several spirits which have strong effects, but are immobile and die in a flash. Tell me how your going to make several companions which can be used together, and have special effects simular to ritualists, yet can move around, Balanced....

These have diverse capabilities like Ritualist spirits, higher levels and likely better attack, are mobile, and have comparably same recast times.

I don't like this class idea, but I will give you a few tips, make them maintainable creatures which don't have duration effects, that way you can keep a maximum of 4 without degenerating your energy, and there is a continoual cost to use them. This way they don't have the same duration and cost types as ritualist skills, wile being able to move around with them. Higher cost to maintain and required energy compared to Ranger pets justify slightly more useful abilities on some and reasonable attack damage. Then add significant cost and recast times so they arn't something you want or can recast, making it important to use skills to keep them alive, and in turn making 4 or even 3 at a time upkeep unwise since you need some energy to keep these alive. And up the levels so max points will allow lvl 14-16 for most creature spirits, and lvl 20 for elite creature spirits at 12 points, with a max addition of 4 more points for lvl 20 normal creatures, and lvl 24 elite creatures. This will become very comparable to a necromancer using Flesh Golem, with different requirements. Add some supporting skills which infrequently cause all your creature spirits to use a special skill based on that creature type, and you have a very interesting and enjoyable class, that is much more balanced, original, and enjoyable.

As for a title or background suggestion, I would suggest a type of creature spirit captor. Ranger tames live animals, Necromancer uses the flesh of the dead, Ritualist uses the spirits of the dead, This spirit captor could capture the still living spirit of an animal or creature in his skills then reuse them. Perferably less animal and more monster/mystical creatures. Dragon and Pheonix Elites, Thinks like Mandids and Griffons for normal skills.

This has been another episode of BahamutKaisers 40,322 cents, sorry to bust open on your idea. Since you can't change the thread title, I suggest restarting the idea with a new title, after an extensive search for a creative title which Doesn't obviously overlaps with current game folklore IDs.

Oh one more thing, as an added weakness these probably need, each should be weak to a certain element, that way groups of these suffer from the obvious counter, Elementist and his AoE cannon. Pheonix weak to ice, Ice Saber Cat weak to fire, Dragon weak to wind, they could even make them resistant to one element and weak to another on certain ones. As an Elite, Pheonix would be a great creature which could absorb fire, take extra damage from ice, and resurrect all allies in his area when you use your Creature boosting skill.

Something like a combination r/rt would fit pretty close.

Seems like your getting at something similar to the D2 LoD Druid
